BOXING: Majority victory for Tiverton ABC's Aaron Edwardes
8:10am Saturday 11th February 2012

Tiverton ABC’s Aaron Edwardes (pictured, left) earned a majority points victory on a show in Chelmsford on Saturday.
Edwardes, matched with the rugged Wayne Price of Epsom and Ewell, began the bout well with a ram-rod jab which gave Price a nose bleed.
After taking the shot Price was reluctant to trade punches with the south-paw Edwardes, smothering at every chance, and was warned for holding by the referee.
The rest of the bout followed a similar pattern and by the third round Price was deducted a point.
Price tried to up the pace in the closing stages, throwing wild swinging punches, but Edwardes took most of them on his gloves.
Another Tiverton boxer in action was Alex Jones (right)who lost a unanimous decision to Chelmsford’s Lenny Prudence.
Prudence just edged the first round but Jones came storming back in the second, throwing combinations and stopping Prudence from counter-punching.
In the third there was very little between two very evenly matched, skilful boxers but Prudence was just given the decision.
Coach Paul Harvey (centre) said he was very pleased with the performances of both boxers.
